Paul Revere Jr. the famous silver smith, made silver flatware pieces in large numbers. A single silver spoon was recently appraised at $12,000 - $18,000. It sold for $9,500.

This 145 piece set of silver flatware, some with gold overlay - and selected hand engraved with the initials EB and the date 1907, is one of a kind. Originally the set was larger, perhaps a table setting for 18 or 36.

Howard Vogel sent the silver home in cigarette cartons. They were transported in the holds of slow freighters - subject to be sunk by German "Wolf Pack" submarines. The salt water in the ships hold caused corrosion on several pieces. Most packages were water-logged on arrival at home.

Later, at Goering's Estate, the inmate showed them where to dig, the location was covered with grass and trees. The Captain called in a bulldozer and the entrance was revealed. A copy of the original photograph taken at the time shows a large round oil painting placed just outside the entrance. It reveals a man and a woman holding a small child.

This is a copy of an original religious painting placed outside the entrance of Hermann Goring's captured hidden treasure vault. It was taken by a member of the 910th AntiAircraft/Tank Battalion, attached to the 101st Airborne Division on April 27, 1945. It shows a man and a woman holding a small child (Joseph, Mary, and the Infant Jesus). A bulldozer revealed the hidden entrance covered with grass and trees.
